Battlefield Bad Company 2 - Mini Review
Battlefield and I go way back, back from when the very first PC version was available, the franchise does not dissappoint!
BFBC 2 if the follow up to the origional, same character, same humor and the unforgettable cracks about other newly released competetors. This time around on single player mode, a comment is made about "Special Ops and their heart beat sensors" and that would be Modern Warfare 2 LOL!!!
ON-LINE GAME PLAY
This FPS packs a serious punch, buildings and structures can be leveled, and yes if your in on.....yea, DEAD! game dynamics and structure is the same as its predessor, they updated the weapons, acheivements, although its a run and gun shooter, its much slower than MW2 making it a little more fun. The Squad structure could be better (Only 4 in a squad) and if your in a clan, this makes it a little tough for clan battles.
All and all great game, have about 15 hours invested and planning on many more!!
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2
As a Call of Duty fan, I knew that the sequel to Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare, the sequel would have a lot to live up to. The Call of Duty franchise had some big shoes to fill with the release of this title and … they lived up to it, taking First Person Shooters to a whole new level of game play.
Although wanting so badly to jump on-line once I opened it, tempting yes, but playing the off line content Campaign mode) tell the story and of course gives you a preview of the on-line maps. Modern Warfare 2 takes place five years after the last installment (Call of Duty 4). In the off-line campaign mode, the game is divided between the multinational counter-terrorist group, Task Force 141, whose mission is to eliminate ultranationalist Vladimir Makarov, while the U.S. Army Rangers, are tasked with defending the United States from a Russian invasion.
Campaign Mode Story line
Starting in Afghanistan, U.S. Army Ranger, Joseph Allen helps in the taking of a city from insurgents. Impressed by Allen's combat abilities, Lieutenant General Shepherd recruits him into Task Force 141, an elite, multi-national counter-terrorism unit under Shepherd's command. Meanwhile, two other members of Task Force 141, Captain "Soap" MacTavish and Sergeant Gary "Roach" Sanderson, scale a mountain of the Tian Shan to infiltrate an airbase in Kazakhstan to recover a lost ACS module from a downed satellite.
Allen is later sent on an undercover mission in Russia for the CIA under the alias of "Alexei Borodin." Allen joins Makarov in a massacre of civilians at the Zakhaev International Airport in Moscow. It is soon revealed at the conclusion of the attack that Makarov is aware of Allen's true identity and before leaving, kills him to expose his identity as an American, leading the Russian police to believe that America was responsible for the attack…I will not spoil the rest of the storyline but will say that these are parts that just make you sink into your chair, fighting through suburban neighborhoods in the U.S. to the destruction of our Capitol, this mission is “Wolverines” for the 1980’s Red Dawn, the U.S. is invaded by the USSR.
Cooperative Game Play
Modern Warfare 2 features a cooperative mode, Special Ops, which consists of independent missions similar in design to the "Mile High Club" epilogue mission from Call of Duty 4. Most of the Special Ops missions may be played alone, but all of them support two player cooperative play in which two players can play together locally or online. Such mode includes scenarios such as a snowmobile race between the two players, one player providing air support from an AC-130 with the other player conducting operations on the ground.
Multiplayer Game Play
The online multiplayer mode of Modern Warfare 2 retains the same experience points and unlockable reward system as that of Call of Duty 4, with game modes that include Free-For-All, Search & Destroy, Demolition, Domination, Team Deathmatch, and Capture the Flag. However, Modern Warfare 2 introduces several new features. Aside from new weapons, equipment, and perks that upgrade to "pro versions" after meeting utilization requirements. There are 15 different kill streak rewards can be unlocked and selected by the player.
Conclusion
Campaign
The off-line story was incredible, although it does seem much shorter than its predecessor, and of course seeing some familiar faces from Call of Duty 4. I do have to serve up a warning, there are some missions that may be disturbing to some, such as the airport mission, you are an undercover operative, following suit; you do have to mow down innocent civilian.
On-line Play
Lots of action, the maps are small to large in size and there are plenty of them. What impressed me the most was the added weapons selection and ability to add more than one accessory to that weapon. Also one of the nice features is the ability to wield a shot gun or even a Sub machine gun as your secondary, whereas in the previous version was that your secondary was a pistol only.
Lots of kill streaks have been added such as C-130 air support, harrier jets, Predator guided missiles and even a Nuke strike, which ends the game. The perks structure has changed as well and also adding a nice extra feature, after being killed consecutive times you can either respawn with a moment of extra health to help with additional damage or my personal favorite “Copy Cat”, which takes the last person that killed you, copying their load out to yours, with luck you will be rolling with equipment well above your paygrade (only if your opponent if higher level).
Final thoughts
I would recommend this game to anyone that loves a good first person shooter, graphics are flawless, game play has surpassed my expectations and on-line play...well you will have to see for yourself!
