| TRACY ISLAND COMMUNITY GUIDELINES
Tracy Island is a social and informational site designed to connect Tracy's residents and inform them about what's happening in their community. We strive to be a family-friendly site and ask that our members abide by the following rules and guidelines. |
PERSONAL PROFILES
1. Network Nicely
Tracy Island is proud to have members with all different
backgrounds, beliefs, and interests. Please be courteous and
considerate when interacting with other members. This includes: no
cyber bullying, harassment, solicitation, etc. Tracy Island is not
a dating site. Please keep this in mind as you interact with other
people on the site. Don’t be the person we have to have a “talk”
with.
2. Profile Information
Provide relevant and significant information on your personal
profile to support the most complete networking experience. All
required profile information should be filled out during
registration.
3. Appropriate Content
In order to host a family-friendly, community-oriented website, all
content must adhere to our guidelines. Any nudity, profanity,
sexual content or references, violent content or references, or
anything else that the Tracy Island Administrators deem
inappropriate will immediately be deleted from the website and the
posting member may be banned from Tracy Island. We want members to
be able to peruse the site with their kids without worrying about
inappropriate content.
BUSINESS NETWORKING
1. Free Business Member Profiles
We allow businesses to create a free member profiles on Tracy
Island. Business profiles may not participate in Tracy Island
contests. Promotion of your business should be confined to your
free member profile page, your status updates or appropriate groups
(such as Tracy Small Business Members or Work at Home Moms).
You may also promote your business through the use of the blogs and forums where the information you are offering to the other members is beneficial to them. Also, if you have special events coming up at your business, those may be posted in the events section.
For example, a personal trainer may post a blog about the best way to stay in shape through the holidays. The person can then state that for more information or questions, you can visit their profile page (or even post a link back to their web site within the blog). What we want on this site is meaningful content, therefore direct promotion of products or businesses is no longer allowed.
Please do not message other members with business-related
specials, post unsolicited business-related comments on members’
walls or promote your business in non-business related groups. If
your business information is posted inappropriately, it will be
deleted from the site immediately. Spamming is a big no-no on our
site. Please, no promotion whatsoever of “adult” businesses.
2. Paid Business Advertising
We do offer some programs for businesses that wish to advertise on
the site. Please contact the site administrators for more
information.
3. Sponsorship of Contests
Tracy Island offers many contest opportunities for our members. If
you own a business and have an idea for a contest you would like to
sponsor, please contact the site administrators.
CONTRIBUTING TO THE WEB SITE
Please moderate your content responsibly. If you would hesitate to
show your photos, videos or blog to a child, your grandmother, or
the Police, that means you shouldn’t be uploading it to Tracy
Island. Ask yourself that question as you upload your content and
act accordingly. If the site administrators find content that is
questionable, we will ask you to remove it or we will remove it
ourselves.
1. Photographs and Videos
Uploaded photographs and videos must not infringe on any trademark,
copyright, privacy or other rights of any third party. As with all
content on Tracy Island, no sexual or profane content is allowed.
This includes background music on posted videos which should not
contain any explicit lyrics. When uploading photos, try to sort
through them before uploading them to the site so we don’t have
multiple versions of the same photographs clogging up our photo
feed.
2. Blogs
Blogs are an interactive, personalized web journal for posting
information, views, rants, raves or anything you want to share with
other Tracy Islanders. Blogs are not the appropriate place to list
items for sale or share information about lessons/tutoring that you
provide. List these items on our Bulletin
Board, the cost is just $1 per listing and the listing stays up
for 30 days.
3. Forums
Forums are a message board or a bulletin board system in the form
of a discussion site. This is where you can ask fellow Tracy
Islanders for advice, information, resources, etc.
4. Groups
Groups are created with the purpose of connecting members with
similar interests, goals, or experiences. Groups that exclude or
prohibit members based on race, age, gender, or beliefs will be
deleted.
5. Events
For the purposes of the Tracy Island web site, we define an event
as "a social gathering or activity that takes place at a single
point in space time" such as a meeting or a class or a party.
Events posted on the site may not last more than one (1) week in
length. Events that are longer than one (1) week will not be
approved for posting on the site.
6. Contests
Each contest is subject to different rules and guidelines. Please
see individual contest pages for all the details. We reserve the
right to terminate contests at any time.
If you see any content that you find inappropriate or offensive, please contact the Tracy Island Administrators at tracyislandonline@yahoo.com or by Reporting an Issue.
