- About Me: Tell us a little bit about yourself, your family and what you do for a living
- We moved to Tracy in 2000 after spending 11 years in Livermore. Tracy is a nice community.... just wish there were more jobs here. I've commuted over the Altamont and the Sunol Grade for most of my 20+ years in California--working as a technical editor-writer for the likes of Livermore National Lab, NASA-Ames Research Center, Ascent Logic Corporation, Verilink Corporation, Cisco Systems, Veritas Software, Tasman Networks, Procket Networks, Force10 Networks, Fujitsu Networking Communications, and most recently Save Mart Supermarkets Data Center (Modesto). I've also been a staff and freelance magazine and newspaper writer/photographer... and now I play a lot with creating Squidoo lenses that display my writing and photography--you can see those here: http://www.squidoo.com/lensmasters/editordave
Before coming to California, I lived with my wife, son, and daughter in New Mexico (son born in Alamogordo, daughter born in Albuquerque). And before New Mexico, I lived for 12 years on the island of Guam.
I'm an alternate energy fan -- so I'm usually looking for things to put on my alternate energy blog--Solar Max Advantage and since I'm a former English teacher and editor, I like catching the typos that I see on my travels.
I guess all this busy stuff is good for someone who has Attention Deficit Disorder... :-)

Having a business of our own can be a royal pain in the tush. Although it does make a difference whether or not you have a traditional brick-and-mortar store or whether you work out of your home and are mobile, still, you will many times be facing tasks that have nothing to do with your expertise.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays in Tracy!
Last year today, my wife, daughter, and I were flying on Cathay Pacific across the Pacific (by way of flying over Alaska, Kamchatka, Vladisvostok, Mainland China) on the way to Hong Kong and the Philippines. 3-1/2 weeks in the tropics during the cold season! I wish I could repeat that this year, but unfortunately, all the budgetary issues of unemployment and underemployment sort of squelched much of everything this year. Homeschoolers? Do You Need Ideas for Curriculum? Ideas to Keep the Kids Occupied and Not Bored?
My wife and I homeschooled our two kids (son, daughter) for 13+ years... and during that time, we occasionally "hit the wall" when it came to getting ideas for teaching them and keeping them interested.
Too bad we didn't have the "Internet" as we know it today when we started/did our homeschool (we started in 1989).

Offering Software Training to Those Who Need It
Another one of my *many* ventures. I'm planning on offering software training to folks who may need it to give them more chances for jobs or for personal learning.
If you have the software installed on YOUR LAPTOP and you can come to my location, the charge is $15/hr. If you want to use my computer using my software (of the type being trained) at my location, it's $45/hour. If you want the training at your location using my laptop/software, it's $65/hour.

- Hi David. I am still looking for full time work. For most of this year though I have been working part time on solar engineering projects at my school in san jose with the solar engineering club. I worked on a project for the city of san jose and now I am trying to expand that to other cities. Hopefully something will come around sooner rather than later.

It was great seeing you out there. I saw so many of our friends who rode the train. It was a treat for me to reconnect. The weather for the BF was really nice, but due to our location being where it was, we actually lost money being there. We know where to be for next year though.
