Miss Millie's Learning Loft: Another Downtown Store Closing

The sign in the window says "50% off everything." Yes, the downtown gem Miss Millie's Learning Loft is closing its doors--December 31st according to a store employee. Miss Millie's Learning Loft was opened in March 2002 by Millie Comber, aka Miss Millie. It was recently taken over by Larry and Stephanie Dunn who have found that they don't have the time they'd like to commit to the store amongst their other business pursuits.

Miss Millie's has long been a source of educational supplies, toys and games for local teachers and parents. The plan is to take the store completely online in the new year. For those who would like to be added to the Miss Millie's mailing list, stop by the store to shop and fill out an interest card.

It is sad to see another downtown store closing. Miss Millie's will be missed.

This is another shame. Everytime we lose a downtown or any othe local business we lose more than just that business. As the former CEO\Exec. Director of the Chamber I encourage all of the Tracy Online Readers to try and support all of your local Tracy businesses. Please read my BLOG from a few weeks ago. We need to SHOP TRACY. Also when attending or supporting any event here in Tracy please make sure they use loacl vendors. Some of our biggest and well know events do not use any local vendors but continue to raise thousands of our dollars and yes they do provide good services and empoly folks from Tracy but it is out local small businesses that is the back bone of our community. One such event is Festival of Trees a great loacl event and Sutter does so many great things but continue to bring in vendors from outside of Tracy. We need to get that board and the Festival of Trees committe to let or local businesses bid on doing this event. Please get the word out SHOP TRACY..Help save our local businesses.
