Offering Software Training to Those Who Need It

Another one of my *many* ventures. I'm planning on offering software training to folks who may need it to give them more chances for jobs or for personal learning.

If you have the software installed on YOUR LAPTOP and you can come to my location, the charge is $15/hr. If you want to use my computer using my software (of the type being trained) at my location, it's $45/hour. If you want the training at your location using my laptop/software, it's $65/hour.

The training is sort of self-directed, computer-based-training (CBT), but I provide assistance with getting the CBT up and running and also help with making sure it works right for your needs.

So far, here's what I'm offering:
MS-Word
MS-Office
MS-Excel
MS-PowerPoint
MS-FrontPage
Adobe Photoshop

I can also teach basic guitar/photography (with the same above conditions).

Regards,
Dave

Hi Brian,

Yup. You're right in assuming I'm a PC-based operation. I probably should learn some of the newer Mac-based applications as well... I used Macs when I worked at Livermore Lab and at NASA ... go figure.

My point with my offering is that there are lots of folks out of work or wanting to get out of toxic work environments ... but need to have computer/software skills that will give them a better chance at getting the new job. (Or perhaps giving them the computer skills that will enable them to start their own business venture!).

For homeschooling folks, I've already held classes in guitar, writing, photography, foreign language (Japanese/Russian), and some of the previously mentioned computer applications. For private classes, I'm charging $45/hour... for classes with more than 3 students, I'm charging $15/hr/person

With my photography class, it was a one-day event (4 hours). With the foreign language, writing, and guitar, the classes are sort of an ongoing thing. For the homeschoolers, it was a semester-long venture with 5 different families dropping their kids off at my place... and we'd have 1-to-2 hour-long sessions at a time. For the semester-long sessions, I gave a "certificate" at the end of the session (for their records in case anyone wanted to see "paperwork").

This is a great there a lot of people that are curious about learning in regards to computers. Im going to assume you are working on PC platform, so if the situation arises where you need MAC based skills and tutoring help let me know!

You are welcome to do the training here....for a nominal fee, of course. I have a classroom, public computer, and offices you can use. By the way, this is a great idea...my wife wants to learn and so does one other person I talked to recently.
