Why He or She Lost Weight and YOU Didn't

I have a two-part question for you. What is the difference between winners and losers and what is preventing you from achieving the results that you see others getting?

The answer is that, “Winners are simply willing to do what losers aren’t.”

I’ve helped hundreds of people (of all ages, shapes, sizes, and abilities) over the last 5 years to lose body fat, get lean, and improve their overall health and fitness. One of the 1st questions people ask me is, “What kind of results can I expect?” My automatic response is that the results you get will be a direct correlation to how well you execute the plan and how badly you WANT to make a change to your current situation.

Let’s be honest, if you don’t really WANT something, then you’re not going to get it because when things get tough and it I’d be easier to NOT follow the plan, then you’ll ditch it and go back to the things that got you to where you are now, which just so happens to be a place you’re unhappy with!

Here are a few scenarios that I see often. Take a look at them and then decide who you think the “winner” is:

  • Kristen wakes up every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and busts her butt 110% during her 530a workouts. Sam repeatedly hits her snooze button and decides she’ll just workout twice as hard the next time.

  • Kristen follows and sticks to a clean and healthy nutrition plan. Sam thinks it’s impossible, so she chooses Weight Watchers instead, even though she’s been off and on that plan for years and is heavier than ever.

  • Kristen keeps a food diary, as she knows that it’s one of the best ways to achieve success and keep her on track. Sam is “too busy” to do this, but manages to get in a couple hours on Facebook.

  • Kristen prepares her meals in advance and puts them in Tupperware so she’s prepared. Sam is, again, “too busy” for this despite having time to watch 2+ hours of TV a night and ends up grabbing fast food instead.

I can go on and on, as I’ve just about heard and seen it all, but I think you get the point.

At the end of the day you’re left with one of two things. You either have a RESULT or you have an EXCUSE.

If you’re tired of having excuses literally weighing you down and would rather receive the result you desire, then I want you grab a pen and paper RIGHT NOW and write down exactly what it is you WANT to achieve health and fitness-wise. Be as specific as possible, as CLARITY IS POWER!

Next, write down WHY you want it. Again be very specific here as your WHY(s) will be what keeps you motivated and focused on what you WANT. Your WHY will be the reason you give 110% during your workouts on those days you’d rather be at home playing Words With Friends.

Lastly, write down WHAT you need to do in order to get what you WANT. This is going to be your Action Plan. This is the path that will lead you to achieving what you WANT.

If it means that you have to workout 3x a week at 530a, then DO IT!

If it means that you have to cut alcohol out of your diet because it’s easily converting into body fat, then DO IT!

If it means that you have to prepare healthy and nutritious food that your body needs and craves, then DO IT!

Remember, if you’re not willing to do what’s required, then you won’t succeed! So let me conclude by asking you this. Do you want an AWESOME result? Or do you want to make another PATHETIC excuse?

Your friend in health,

Rich Rodriguez
